Finding a chiropractor that works for you can sometimes be a daunting process, whether it is your first encounter with a doctor of chiropractic or you have relocated to a new community or because you are seeking a new perspective for your health. After all you are considering placing your trust in a person that you don’t know. I just want you to know that I do not take that for granted. That is why you are more than welcome to set up a phone call or in person 15 minute meeting with me personally to see if I might be a good fit for your needs and concerns.
The emphasis in this practice is patient safety, quality results and personalized care in a relaxing and nurturing environment. After 26 years in practice, I have learned a lot about what good health care looks and feels like, as well as what it does not.
Your First Visit
Scheduling your appointment: You may schedule your initial visit on the online calendar. Expect your appointment to last about an hour.
Intake Forms: Please print out your new patient forms (see sidebar on right) and bring them with you to your first appointment. If you are unable to do this, please use the Contact Us form so that we can arrange to mail you your intake forms. If that does not work for you then arrangements can be made for you to arrive early to complete these forms.
What You Can Expect: Your initial visit will consist of chiropractic history taking process/discussion to explore what sources might be at cause for your health concerns and getting important health history information and a conversation about your complaints and how your life is affected. This will be followed by a chiropractic physical examination. Wearing loose comfortable clothes is recommended. If at this point further outside testing or referral is required before treatment is initiated, this will be discussed. Otherwise a first treatment will be provided.
Treatments may include any and all of the following: Pre-adjustment care may include the use of soothing moist heat packs, vibrational massage, seated warm up wobble chair range of motion exercises. Adjustments of the spine or extremities vary based on the unique needs and concerns of each patient. For those who are wary or who dislike the popping sounds that sometimes accompany spinal adjustments, then gentle mobilization techniques (i.e. muscle energy, PNF, blocking, craniosacral, etc) or Activator style or “drop table” methods will be used. For those who prefer manual style adjustments, if deemed appropriate can and will be performed. Most visits will include recommendations for self-care and exercises or lifestyle recommendations. If emotional stress appears to be playing a significant role in your health concern then a discussion about mind-body stress practices, i.e. mindfulness, meditation, EFT, yoga etc. may occur.
Treatment Plan: After 26 years in practice, I have come to the conclusion that there is no set treatment plan that can be applied to each person and each condition, it is unique to you, your priorities and your concerns. At the end of your first visit we will discuss what works for you and your health concerns to come up with a moving forward strategy.
